Work in Thailand Legally

Get BOI Work Permit & Visa

Thai Board of Investment-promoted enterprises do not have the same capital or personnel requirements as other limited corporations. Foreigners working in BOI-supported enterprises can get their visas and work permits from the One Stop Service Centre for Visas and Work Permits, eliminating the need to contact the Labor or Immigration departments separately. After the online registration process is accepted, the process is faster and can be completed in a day.

Application Process

The visa and work permit application process consists of the following steps:

Step 1

If you wish to hire a foreign skilled worker for your BOI-promoted business, you may contact Siamese International Law firm for assistance with the application process via the BOI E-Expert system. The BOI office might be requested to issue an invitation letter to support the foreigner’s Non-immigrant B visa application. This application is completed online and takes roughly one week to complete.

Step 2

The invitation letter issued by the BOI office can be mailed to the foreigner, along with supporting company registration documents bearing the signature of the authorized director, in order for the foreigner to apply for a non-immigrant business visa (90 days) at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in his or her home country, or in a different country depending on the individual’s nationality.

Step 3

Siamese International Law firm will then submit an online request to “open a position” for the foreigner to work for the company, detailing the foreigner’s position, job description, previous employment and educational history, as well as supporting documents and certificates. The consideration procedure for an open position takes around a week and is done online.

Step 4

Once the position has been opened and approved, the application for the foreigner’s work permit and visa extension can also be submitted online via the BOI E-Expert system, which is the final stage of online approval before the actual issuing of the work permit booklet and visa extension. This procedure takes 3-4 business days.

Step 5

Once the online formalities are completed, the legal team at Siamese International Law firm will physically accompany the foreign applicant to the Employment Office to collect the work permit booklet and to the Immigration Bureau to have his/her visa extended, both of which are located at the One Stop Service Centre for Visas and Work Permits.
